| Software pricing is a complex subject and varies by vendor and application. Weighting of multicore processors is also a complicating effect in TCO evaluations. In addition, some vendors offer subset pricing if hardware or software virtualization is being used. | |
But what happens when that one "physical" computer is divided up into tens--or perhaps hundreds--of partitions? These "virtual" computers can be created, destroyed and moved around between "real" (physical) computers in seconds. |
